Company’s ship recycling policy is based on worker safety and environment safety. The company has its own strict compliance requirements where the company has verifiable worker training programs which it has designed itself taking the best from what is required by the BD Government, Honk Kong Convention and US Govt. Detail records are kept of all training, participants. All work start with a refresher on the particular safety issues to be faced on that particular job. Risks are categorized into different levels; all safety instruments have to be in place, and all drilled precautions are followed.

Special care is taken according to the Hong Kong Convention regarding all hazardous materials. Ship cutting is done in a way that the shore line is not polluted at all and cutting is done in specific areas to minimize health hazards.

The company is ISO 30000 certified and is now in the midst of conversion into a Green Yard

Company manufactures large ocean going barges and lighter vessels for the growing Bangladesh domestic riverine market. Many of the plates and some machinery are taken from the ships that are being dismantled in the Crystal yard.

The company runs semi auto steel mills producing about 100 MT of rebar’s a day from 8mm to 16mm and other steel products for the construction and housing sectors. The quality of these products set the industry standards.

The company, after it took over the steel mill, almost doubled the production, reduced costs and down times.

Here also the main focus of the company is labour safety and welfare and environment protection.

The company is now in the process of setting up a full auto steel mill.

The company provides processed steel for the construction and other industries. In its large yard, it is able to do further process the steel products and other products such as motors, cranes, etc. that it obtains from its ship recycling operation.

The company has invested in an LPG gas terminal and bottling plant in Chittagong. The plant will be capable to accept LPG from ships that will dock on the company’s dedicated dock. The gas will be pumped onshore to the storage tanks for bottling to be distributed to consumers and industries. The company is also investing in a condensate refinery which will produce various fuels such as diesel and petrol to be sold to the public sector.

The typical Ashford clients are North American companies that are growing rapidly but do not have access to traditional bank financing. Ashford sets up revolving lines of credit from $3 million to $15 million to fund the growth of these borrowers.
